WDAA Train the Trainers™ Coming to California!

****Register here!****

Mark your calendars for this important WDAA event!  Train The Trainers™ program will be hosted by the CAWDA on October 5 and 6 at the beautiful McCoy Equestrian Center in Chino Hills.

TTT_Logo-BlackBrown-NoTagline-TransThis two-day workshop is your opportunity to learn Western Dressage standards from WDAA advisors Cliff Swanson and Frances Carbonnel.  The morning sessions of the program are taught in a classroom with plenty of materials and handouts for participants, as well as videos and Powerpoint presentations.  The afternoons will be held in the main show ring with live demonstrations of the movements and WD tests.

The program is open to all WDAA members.  Participants will receive a Certificate of Completion at the end of the workshop.  Attending trainers will be granted the right to advertise themselves as WDAA Train The Trainers™ graduates.

Amateurs who are interested in the program can also attend and will receive an Amateur certificate of completion.

To register for this exciting event, click here.

We are also looking for six to eight demo riders riding at different levels to work with Cliff and Frances.  Riders must be available for a practice session on Saturday, October 4, before the clinic and on both days of the clinic.  This is a great opportunity to learn from the experts.  The CAWDA will arrange for stabling if needed.  If you are interested in being a demo rider, please e-mail us at info@cawda.org.

CAWDA 2014 High Point is On!

Your choice – hat or helmet, no bling required!  The CAWDA officially launched its high point program on February 16 at Hansen Dam Equestrian Center in Lakeview Terrace.  The “Year of the Horse” English/Western dressage show attracted a small group of dedicated WD riders and a large cheering section of WD enthusiasts.

Sadly, our next show at Creek Hollow Ranch in Ramona was rained out.show 3-9-14 027 (5-edited)

But the third event in our lineup, Pepperglen Farm, showed just how much Western Dressage is catching on.  Pepperglen Farm in Norco hosted an all-Western Dressage show last weekend.  Thank goodness for daylight savings time!  Pepperglen Farm had 67 entries, including one Freestyle ride and two WD Equitation rides. Lori and Michelle, show managers, told the CAWDA that they had so many entries, they had to turn away the late ones.

For information on how to compete in the CAWDA High Point program, see the rules page here.  For a complete list of shows eligible for our high point, click here.

Thank you all for participating in our High Point program and supporting the shows and show managers which are making our point program a success.  Please be sure to check premiums for upcoming shows and get your entries submitted before deadlines.

The CAWDA encourages all visitors to our site to visit Carolyn’s website athttp://whitehorsestudios.net/ and her Facebook page athttps://www.facebook.com/Boydston.WhiteHorseStudios. Caroline has pictures of the beautiful art work she has done.  Contact her to commission a masterpiece of your favorite equine friend!

Attention Trainers And Judges:  Join the CaWDA Trainers Network!

The California Western Dressage Association would like to thank all our California trainers and judges who support Western Dressage.  In alignment with our new organization, we are committed to starting the California Western Dressage Trainers Network.  The Network will be comprised of professional horse trainers and judges.  It will serve as a forum for rule change discussions, requests, Western Dressage standards and practices; it will suggest and promote professional education, including assisting in organizing the WDAA Train the Trainers clinics; and it will drive the growth of Western Dressage in California.

We would like to invite all Western Dressage trainers, clinicians, and judges to participate, and we would like to invite trainers from other disciplines to join us as well.

If you are interested in the Trainers Network, please tell us at CAWDA-Trainers@cawda.org.
